Invited review: A critical appraisal of mastitis vaccines for dairy cows

Infections of the mammary gland remain a frequent disease dairy ruminants that negatively affect animal welfare, milk quality, farmer serenity, and farming profitability cause an increase in use antimicrobials. There is need for efficacious vaccines to alleviate burden mastitis farming, but this has not been satisfactorily fulfilled despite decades research. A careful appraisal past current research on reveals peculiarities also commonalities among infections associated with major pathogens Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus uberis, agalactiae, or dysgalactiae. pitfall immune mechanisms effective protection have fully identified. Until now, vaccine development directed toward generation antibodies.
